Enjoying...

Enjoying some good days..but again, that darn GVH...mouth area. Otherwise, stable and steady. Been doing quite a few loads of laundry lately! Yahoo!
Perhaps many of you have been effected by this new hard hitting virus 'illness'.. Many kids at Abbey's school have been out a week a more. The usual suspects, fever, cough, congestion, but this strain is a prize fighter...Many adults have also been hard hit. Becky been able to keep this one away.
Hope all is well with you..WE truly give thanks in all things..WE know there is much to overwhelm us in this world, but we still thank God for the goodness, for the kindness, for the healing, and for the beauty we see.

Happy Valentine's Day...regular visit..

Yes, Happy, Happy Valentine's day to all. Just thinking about : "Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is LOVE".. Yes, love..we gotta love, and this can require a herculean effort at times...but love wins many a battle..
Becky's regular visit a few days ago revealed some good and stable results, though the platelets have dropped. Yet, Dr. was not concerned. The mouth issue still at the forefront. Just dang irritating. But each day that goes by, Becky distances herself from the GVH. As mentioned, we are seeing more normalcy in our days. She is cooking a wonderful Valentine's dinner!!! Love it! Love her...This is quite a welcomed sight..A year ago, Becky could barely eat a full meal, or even half a meal, much less cook one!

Steady..

Yes, still the GVH (Graft vs. Host disease) issue..but otherwise, quite good and steady. Eating well, cooking, some light cleaning,..hey, that sounds almost normal huh? The abnormal; still no driving, still many meds, some foods very discomforting to chew, due to mouth issues, still a bit tough to navigate or climb more than 5 steps..but seriously, there is some calmness settling in. Some sense of maybe really turning the corner, but again, this remains to be seen and realized. We go for the hospital checkup in a few days. We hope and pray the lab levels are ALL good! One other big step toward some normalcy was the fact that I could back east and see my Dad for a short visit..really needed to see him due to some health issues and more. Haven't seen him in approx. year and a half. It was a very productive and meaningful visit. It is the 'winter' of his life. Yes, declining health, but much to be thankful for, very much. He has always had amazing health and an admirable zest for life when many would just settle for the easy chair and 'auto-living'. He was on Facebook in the early days! Many of you have been there and done that with your parents and many are you are there now. You know what this is like. We do what we can to make this season one of comfort and dignity.
